Default 33-34 Pickup Hood Hinge Question

Guys,

I'm trying to separate the hood hinge joint on my 33 Pickup and need advice. The side panels came apart easily once I drove the 1/4" rods out, but I can't see what to do on the center top hinge joint. I have driven in a 3/16" rod about 5" but that didn't seem to push any rod out the other end. What's the trick?

Thanks much, Peder

They just slide apart. there is no rod. The hinge is 2 semi-rolls of sheet metal and one side slides into the other from the end. May take some lube or penetrating oil to make them slide apart easily. Sometime it helps for two people to work together. you may have damaged the rolls by driving the rod into them and that will make them hard to slide. sometimes having a helper support the hood tops to take pressure of the joint helps. I think that they only slide in one direction also.
