Just ordered materials to add another 20'

Inside...30 pickup, speedster, 41 Tonner,52 Lincoln Capri, 68 Beetle the 25 T i just took outside. No a/c and it stays comfortable if you leave the door closed. Still two A's in the other garage. I'm in the shop at 6:30 some mornings. 5 out of the 8 vehicles i can drive now.

Wick,
Just wondering how that hoist works for you when the "A" is on it? How high are your ceilings? Can you tell me brand name and where you purchased it? I'm sure wanting to get one but don't really know where to go for it.

Would appreciate any info you might want to send.

Thanks

Garage envy. Like the ceiling fans, too.

Cape. A 12' ceiling is a decent height for the 4 post with an A on it, but of course you can get away with less. I put a 4 post in my house to work on the A's as the shop environment is to busy and dusty...

The lift is a Backyard Buddy, I bought it at a auction in PA. Ceiling is 13' high. Model As and Ts are great on it. I use channel from a old press across the ramps to put a jack on for removing wheels. I can also move the lift around with 2 big floor Jacks or wheel dollies. Lift is run by 1 12volt car battery.
I did replace the cables when I set the lift up. (By myself ) I use the lift almost every day.

Forward makes a whole bunch of lifts, check their website.
They have 2 and 4 posters.
You can get by with lower ceilings; they have 'low overhead lifts', too

big really is better.. In 2008 when I built my 40 X 60 with 1/2 the garage having scissor trusses (15'4" center clrnc), I thought I was in hog heaven. The garage has 2 4 post lifts and with double stacking on the lifts I can put 11 cars in it. BUT things started to fill up quick so I put a 16' X 60' lean-to on the side. Back 16' is a work shop with lathe, drill press ect and is used as a clean room for rebuilding engines, front part is for F150 and New Holland 4WD tractor, This week I start construction on an additional 14' X 32' lean-to for more storage. Needed more space to park the 4 Model A's, '82 CJ7, '65 mustang etc etc...

Wick! Great Garage! Nice to see you're enjoying your freedom from the working world --now you can work on your toys in one hell of toy house!
