My father was a yankee and my mother was a southerner. I guess that makes me neutral (or confused).

YOU'RE confused ...

I married a GERMAN-POLISH farm girl from WISC. Talk about culture clash.

Been married fifty-one years and SHE CAN STILL KICK MY A$$ ...

I was in a business machine class several years ago when everyone but me and a guy from California were Yankees. I told them that I was 24 years old before I found out that Yankee wasn't just half of a work. Even funnier, the CA guy said "I don't get it."

Hey, I resemble that comment...I only lived up there 60 years, and got out as soon as I could.

Married a Polish/Czech from WI too. I'm 100% Germen. Given we're both from farms the cultures matched up pretty well. Been hooked up 43 years and counting, now we're just old retired farts, me from the Navy and her from teaching.

P.S. Grew up in the South, wasn't my cup of tea. Moved to Southern California at age 60. Love it. Very laid back.

Always thought the word was "damnyankee" since they were always spoken together.

No, stationed south of the Mason-Dixon line for 29 years. No winter clothes, taxes too high in WI compared to AL , don't care for snow (shoveled too much as a kid!), kids in VA, TX and CO and then there was the job thing.

Sad but true thing when I retired out of the Navy in 93 with 29 years in, right at 50% of military retirees with over 26 years of service never collected their 36th retirement check (it stops when you pass). I'm very happy to say I've been retired longer then I was on active duty and am working on collecting for a few more years!
