Re: Aries muffler
MrTube this is not a Chevy tailgate, it is one of those Good - Chevy's - 1982 GMC.
I have always wondered about the muffler that I posted photos of, mainly the fact that it has a the correct Model A part number. I think that this one came on my Dads 1931 Pick-up with a 1932 small counterweight Model B Engine, all STD and has steel shims. He bought it in 1975. Re: Aries muffler
I believe that I have an Aries muffler. I'd sY it's very close to NOS. Unfortunately this site won't take my photos anymore....no idea why. The proportions are matching a reference I've found here...the one that has the 4 example mufflers. Has H3L301 stamped on it. However, as I just measured the welded seam of the tapered canister...it measured 27 1/4......to add more specifics the weld connecting the top bell to the bottom bell. So IF....29 1/4 measured is the original....mine may not be original as I once thought. It's for sale....just saying.

Re: Aries muffler
I'll measure the length aft of the muffler....however my confusion is fueled by the fact the shape of mine aft of the muffler is a gradual one like the Aries and not the others. But thanks... search continues. Any comment on the presence of the part number H3L301

Re: Aries muffler
I believe you have the "$50 Facsimile" depicted by Ruth in post #23, above. These were made and sold by Midas Muffler. That is, up until they probably realized that their lifetime warranty should not be offered to Model A owners (see YouTube video below)
