Update: RCMP just called me. A grader operator discovered my trailer, abandoned on a rural road not far from my hometown. The 38/39 big truck was not on the trailer and not found in the area. So, my theory about someone wanting the trailer is seemingly no longer valid. Seems we need to be on the lookout for a "car guy". One twist to the story: the trailer was stolen sometime after dark on Monday. The grader operator working the area knows for certain the trailer was not in the location where he found it today (Thursday) as he serviced that very area on Wednesday. The plot thickens!

Great you got the trailer back.

Interesting theory about the truck. I have a hard time believing that someone wanted the truck and not the trailer, but what do I know?

To put this in perspective....I bought the truck on Sunday for $200. The rear wheels on the truck did not turn - stuck tight as tight can be. The steering was locked tight and the wheels were not pointing ahead; also severely seized in place. We actually debated cutting the pitman arm to load easier. . It was a bear to get on the trailer - floor jack under the front axle, my son running the winch, the seller picking up the hind end of the beast with a forklift. Limited numbers of good parts on it. Some idiot risks a jail sentence for this parts truck???? Goes to the trouble of unloading the truck at a site not where the trailer was found - then returns the trailer within a short drive from our City, presumably in the middle of the night? Cunning, bold or just plain stupid? I will find him at some point and I will broadcast the name when convicted. What a way to tarnish a reputation!

Do any of the parts fit the smaller pickup?

Clem, I love your truck. If it was on that trailer, it might make sense. The one that was on the trailer is another story.

Probably got truck off the trailer and was ready to sell the trailer then saw it advertised stolen and given its uniquness just dumped it. Maybe.

It may help to place owner information in a place where it can't be seen under the trailer. This helped us to reclaim ours when the thief tried to say he had owned it before the theft was reported. Same is true with valuable cars. Our shop lost one to a former owner who had a separate set of keys and used them in the night.
