Check with vendor if text is searchable. If it's image-based you won't be able to search or copy blocks of text.

Believe it's image based, but there is a away around some of that. Wouldn't be any different that hard copy.

I have one for the later early to mid 50s Mercury & Lincoln cars from Detroit Iron Information Systems and it has a collection of manuals for multiple years on Lincoln & Mercury products but it doesn't have all of them. It does have enough to get by though. They work OK for searches since they break it down into sections.

For the the post war Fords I like those green Canadian Ford reprint shop manuals. They have more info than some of the OEM Ford manuals of the day since they were made for military use as well. The 1946 Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Service Manual doesn't hold a candle to the Canadian one for that time frame.

I was looking at a similar cd manual for the 52 Merc a while back and considering getting it. Sounds like a good option when the real books are either unavailable or priced beyond reach.

I purchased one of Dave Graham's CDs and was a bit disappointed. It had the early version of the manual for 49 through 51 Mercury which worked only for 49 & 50. All the 51 supplements had not been incorporated. Before I would purchase any thing more from him, I would ask a lot of questions about that subject. The one CD I purchased from Detroit Iron was for parts only but I now have a complete original maintenance & overhaul manual for those models that I finally found for a decent price on flea pay. It was well worth getting one that has clear photographs. The reprints don't ever seem to come out as well as the originals.

I bought one from Mac's and found it difficult to look things up. Paper is the way to go

That may be a personal thing, I have several other CDs of Ford manuals and parts list and I much prefer the digital versions. Believe that is what the dealerships use now days as well.
