Help ID/Find 1933 34 flathead dip stick tube and boss
I have a 33 or 34 Flathead with the flat sided oil pan it's not a stepped pan.
I found these pictures on line. can you guys confirm that this is a 33 34 oil pan? I am on the search for a dip stick boss, Tube and Dipstick for my 33/34. It appears the tube is part of the boss (one piece) which probably explains why its broken off? Ive searched online but didnt see any venders or sellers with one? any help with locating a good used one would be much appreciated. thanks for your time.

The tube screws into the boss. The boss is very hard to find if broken. Check with Fred at Southside obsolete for the dip stick and maybe the tube. The tube is nearly identical to the 60HP tube just about 1/4" shorter. Pictured is the 33-34 oil pan but without the inner splash shield

Looks like a 1934 pan. '33's just have a hole in the pan. No riveted dip stick receptacle. '33-'34 dip stick dimensions are identical. David G. might confirm.

Re: Help ID/Find 1933 34 flathead dip stick tube and boss
If the boss opening is threaded, it's a '34 pan. If there are no threads in the opening, it's a '33 pan. Otherwise they are identical. 40-6754 is the part number of the steel tube that is threaded into the boss of the '34 pan. 40-6758-B is the dipstick used in conjunction with pans with the steel tube threaded into the pan. 40-6758-A is the dipstick used where there is no steel tube (and no threads in the boss for a tube). The two dipsticks are quick different.
fourfords, With respect, all of the steel pans have a separate, riveted-on die cast dipstick receptacle starting with the first V8 steel pan released late in the '32 model year. |

Re: Help ID/Find 1933 34 flathead dip stick tube and boss
Given the configuration of the handle, it's a '34 dipstick. The '33 dipstick has much more to it above the stop. The pan could be either depending on whether the hole in the boss is threaded. A '33 dipstick can be used with either pan as long as there's no steel tube threaded into the boss whereas the '34 dipstick can only be used in conjunction with that steel tube.

I’ve got 33 and 34 dipsticks, as well as 34 tubes and die cast bosses. It would help to know if you have a 33 or 34

Re: Help ID/Find 1933 34 flathead dip stick tube and boss
Thanks all. I will get some pictures tonight of the actual engine and pan that I have. The boss needs to be replaced because the threaded part is broken off.
Thanks

Here is my oil pan. The threaded part of the boss is broken off. I guess im not to particular whether I put a 33 or 34 boss and tube on it as long as i have something functional.
