Default A Couple Of Comments From My Hometown

I was born and raised in Spencer, WV. Graduated high school in 1955 and joined the air force. There were several Model A's driven as transportation back in the mid 50's. My friend's dad had a Model A coupe with a wooden small bed where the trunk or rumble seat had been. His comment was "When Ford quit makin' Model A's, they quit makin' cars." Another comment was hearsay as he was before my time. "The Good Lord won't let man build a car faster than a Model A Ford."

When I was a small child there were probably five or six Model "A"s within two hundred yards of our house. My dad, his brother and a friend Joe Dunstan were big hunting buddies and they all had Model "A"s This was in the fifties.

In the sixties there were a bunch of hoodlums in high school that were serious Model"A" owners. They were like a cult.

Thanks for posting the picture.

My dad came home from the hospital in a Model A when he was born in 1958. My grandmother had a Model A in her teens, if I recall she was born in 1929.

In the 60's, around here, model A's were still in used car lots. A friend of ours bought a 28 tudor from a dealer, and lamented that he had to pay $110. It was the first time he paid over $100 for one. I drove my father's town sedan to high school, and to my first job until I saved enough money to buy my 40 ford deluxe. My boys came home from the hospital the day after they were born in my 29 tudor.
