Removing old windshield frame gasket
WOW!... is there anything or any way to remove the 'rock hard' gasket on my '28 windshield frame other than an old screwdriver and hammer? Don't really want to pry flange back because a new gasket might not fit well thereafter. Was this flange originally pressed onto the gasket for tight fit or slid in? Nonetheless, if I manage to get the old gasket out without bending back the flange, what's the chances a new one will slide in the channel with a little WD-40? Thanks Always... Saltman

Try using a wet bar of soap to lube the gasket instead of the WD40 and then just slide the gasket in to place. It is real slick and washes right off after installation. Works for me everytime.

Maybe you could try a heat gun to soften it up

Re: Removing old windshield frame gasket
I use a die grinder with a metal cutting blade, it cuts old hard rubber pretty good. cut a piece out of the center then use a screw driver to remove what is left,
