Re: Is anybody
I was almost stuck under a '57 Bird dashboard...
trying to take it out without removing the steering wheel or column. Last edited by dmsfrr; 12-16-2020 at 11:30 AM. Reason: add photo |

Re: Is anybody
yup! just not really working on any cars that fit under here at the moment. I mean I do also have an 1981 F250 but I usually go to another corner of the web for those issues, and my new-to-me Datsun 280 isn't even remotely close
Hope everyone has a happy holiday season! |

Re: Is anybody
Hopefully not. Nobody posted for a couple of days so I thought I'd try to stir up some activity with a weak attempt at humor.

Re: Is anybody
Hmm....could be , as a lot of them that I've seen over there (on HAMB ) have at least a few mods made to them .
I have been a hotrodder for about 50 yrs. now , so I personally don't have any problem w/that ! However , I believe that there is still a large population of late V8 Ford owners out there w/mostly stock vehicles . So where are they ? Do they not feel comfortable here ? Sure wish that more late V8ers would come aboured ! Last edited by Ford Freak; 12-17-2020 at 01:00 PM. |

Re: Is anybody
We just got crapped on with 36" of snow. I was scared of getting stuck with my 87 Chevy plow truck. Driveway is a hill so I aimed it to where I thought the driveway and gave it hell.Couldnt see for shit but I made it. Hardest part was walking out to the barn with snow up to my ass!

Re: Is anybody
I live in western PA, north of Old Redneck and Bob/PA. We had about ten inches of snow. I found a garbage truck blocking the end of my driveway this morning. The truck got off to the side and stuck in the ditch. I drove through the yard and around the house, through a neighbor's yard, and into another neighbor's driveway so I could get around the garbage truck and go to work. Of course that was through deep snow, and was UPHILL BOTH WAYS!

Re: Is anybody
I don't envy you guys up north. It's been getting down into the 20s at night here and we had about 3/4" of snow a couple of weeks ago but it didn't stick to the pavement and was all gone a day later. I'm as far north as I care to be.

Re: Is anybody
We got 3 or 4 inches of snow a couple weeks ago. So I shoveled the front sidewalk to be nice.

Re: Is anybody
Barely covered the ground here a day or two ago. Didn't even get to use my 'new to me' JD with plow yet. Snowblower is still hanging on the wall.

The catalogs call it white but it's probably more like Parchment or maybe a dark-ish version of Ivory. It's enough darker than the couple year old bright white paint on the lower dash that it bugs me, especially where the vinyl arm rests on the doors line up with the lower dash. I'll be repainting that metal to more closely match the vinyl. The dash cover is only a few years old, put on by the last owner, back to the original color like the rest of the car. As pretty as it looks, the glare from the white dash onto the inside of the windshield can be fairly tough to see thru, so I'll be getting a black dash mat to put up there while driving. I ended up pulling the steering column to have enough room to slide and lift the dash out by myself. Lots of surface rust on the drivers side firewall and the insulation pad has disintegrated, but that's why I'm taking it apart. More cleanup work left to do... Re: Is anybody
That’s a big job! Results will be worth all the hard work. Good luck.

Re: Is anybody
You're right, it looks better in the photos. It could be the fluorescent lights in the garage. In natural light the white is a bit intense, I'm just going to tone it down a bit. The previous owner repainted it and may have used a slightly different color than original.
