Synthetic 680
Anyone have experience with Super Lube 54632 Synthetic Gear Oil ISO 680 1 Quart Bottle Translucent?
Reason I am asking: the small, affordable quantity is available at Amazon. I do not like the foaming I see with the usual suppliers' 600. |

Re: Synthetic 680
I have not noticed any foaming with the 600 we get from Snyder's. I have used other brands that did. Make sure the vent hole on the shift tower is open.
https://www.super-lube.com/Content/I...c_Gear_Oil.pdf Looks like it has a copper corrosion rating of 1B https://www.panamlubricants.com/wp-c...-ASTM-D130.pdf

By all means give it a shot. But, like redmodelt, I haven't had any trouble with the 600W from the vendors. I've been using Brattons with good results. What supplier did you get yours from?

I do not know. It was in there when I picked up the A. Changing all the fluids. Given your location, perhaps you know the vehicle. 1930 82 B closed cab pick up belonged to A. B.
It now resides in FL. |

Re: Synthetic 680
Previous owner could have put in who knows what. I think a club member may have sold a '30 Pickup recently. PM me and I may know more details.
In any case, I would order a quart of 600W from Brattons or Snyders and give it a shot. Way cheaper than that synthetic stuff. |

Super Lube Synthetic Gear Oil ISO 680 - 54632 is a kosher biodegradable food grade gear oil. It's not meant for a car gearbox or diff! The low quality fake "600w" oil the suppliers sell is probably ISO 460. Copper corrosion rating of 1B is okay for an A as there's not much yellow metal. For an AA 1928 worm drive I do know of oils that are 1A...but not cheap. When you decide to get serious, have a look at these fairly cheap (with free shipping) but super high quality (as the v.index no. shows) options: Non-EP: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lube-V-Full-Synthetic-ISO-680-Gear-Bearing-Oil-Lube-compare-as-Mobil-SHC-636/123051605869? EP (comes in gallon can): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lube-V-Full.../112622094150? EP isn't needed, I would buy the non-EP plus it's cheaper. Also note, they do have ISO 1000 non-EP but it's not listed on Ebay...contact me for more details. Oh, and you're welcome.

Re: Synthetic 680
Why so angry and degrading? You've got some good inf, but there are ways to share it without trying to make all here feel like they are butt stupid and should have already known what you know.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as angry and degrading. If I was angry and didn't respect people here I wouldn't provide the links and info I did.

Re: Synthetic 680
By the way, for those who don't know, ISO 680 is the equivalent to lower end of the range of SAE 250 gear oils.
