Default Universal Joint Housing Cap Bolts

A huge shout out to you guys for your help and advise. I selected fasteners from a different supplier and guess what? They worked. These bolts came with regular cotter pins, not heavy duty.

I sure do appreciate you help!!!!!

Hurray!!! Good job!

It's a minor nit, but the top bolt goes the other way. That's the way the factory was supposed to install this bolt. It's the only one that faces forward. If you're not going for show, though, don't worry about it. Enjoy...

The ones that did not fit were from Snyder's. The ones that did fit were from Mac's. I have had enormous similar problems with most of the fasteners that I got from Snyder's. I will not buy any more fasteners from Snyder's. I would recommend that you do not either. Just saying.......

Looks good.
Now you're going to have to remove those two parts you just bolted on so you can paint them black. Sure seems like Ford would have painted them green as part of the tranny assembly, but they are black if you are going for points. Also those two parts were machined together and should stay together, but I imagine many got mixed and matched over the years.

I am not going for judging, I want a 100% perfect touring vehicle. I see no reason to disassemble the entire rear end and removing it completely just to paint a different color. This will not be visible when I put the body back on. Thanks.

No, I'd just leave it now also, but it's just the rear half of the coupling that is black, so nothing else needs to be removed.

It's not like someone forgot to install the inner cup that the rear end pushed against.
BTW, the 2 holes on the inner cup get positioned at 9 and 3. On the rear cover with the 2 felts that get pressed into the groove I had to thin the 2 felts down to make them fit on a car I worked on about 10 years ago. Other times the felts fit fine. And of course the felts and covers get well greased before installing them.

Snyder's are good people and stand behind their products. If you have an issue with a part, it should be brought to their attention. If they don't get customer feedback, they won't be aware that the part has issues. They will do what ever to make the purchase right. They have even refunded shipping both ways at times. I have bought tons of parts from them and you can't beat their customer service.

I have contacted Snyder's. I explained the problem to them including a picture. I gave them the part number. I have yet to hear back from them. Granted, it is the weekend. The last time this happened I got the run around. I just installed them wrong they said.
Let's put and end to this. I answered simple question and this whole thing blew up.

Make this the end of any more postings.
