Default My trip to Louisiana.........

Love Louisiana, going back home and visiting my old neighbors who lost their plantation during the War of Southern Independence. Here my family's home we lost, some damn yankee carpetbagger bought it for taxes and look what they done to it.

Then I visited some other family places, I use to put of hay in this barn back in the 20s................

Then I drove on down to great great granny's mill where we kids use to play on the wheel. Granny made the best hot bread from the flour from mill. Me and my cousins, yes they are still alive too, fixed the place up a few years back, put in new windows, tuck pointed the stone, great great granny was sure proud of it when she saw it all fixed up. Sue-Ellen had ground up some fresh flour and granny made us a few loaves of bread just like we remember it too!!!

So that was my trip back to my childhood in Louisiana.........MISSOURI!!!!!!!!!!

Stark Plantation home just outside Louisiana is For Sale with 87 acres too.

Stark Brothers, Louisiana Missouri, search it, lot's of southern history in northern Missouri before and after the War. Hiway 79, Little Dixie Hiway......from St Louis to Hannibal.

The Barn and Mill is back in my county.

You should get a trunk for your luggage carrier in case it rains. Wayne

Beautiful plantation. Beautiful Ford--a real testament to the Yankee ingenuity
and industrial strength of the North.

The next chapter will have the great grandmother getting married soon and her grandfather giving her away. Don't be surprised. Wayne

I can not tell a lie, I'm in my senior year at the academy (college).

I copied this from a gal over on the Fedora Lounge who puts things down real well, very knowledge gal and it explains my present and on-going situation with the fox tail............

"I suspect this whole thing was an outgrowth of 20s collegiate culture -- raccoon coats, ukuleles, and vo-do-de-o and such. The tails, which were hung from radiator caps before cars had antennas, had the same meaning that fuzzy dice had from the fifties onward -- that the owner of a car so ornamented was a wild-ridin' rebel who played by his own rules, just like all the thousands of other owners of cars so ornamented.

If you google up a novelty salesman by the name of Charles Brand, you'll find a bit more information on this -- seems he cornered the market on foxtails in the mid-thirties, only to have the fad blow over. The craze seems to have peaked in 1936-37, but lingered for a while -- Brand was still selling off his inventory as late as 1948, by which time he'd moved on to be hailed in the novelty trade as the Rabbit Foot King".

I commend Ryan and the monitors. This is not Facebook. If it is not Model A related or unsavory it should be deleted, Wayne
