Engine install
I will be shorly installing my engine and transmission back in my 31 A. I removed the engine and then went back and pulled the transmission out. When I install is it best to put the transmission in first and then the engine or as a unit.

Re: Engine install
If at all possible, put them in as a unit. You will be able to a better job on the "workbench" than wrestling with the transmission under the car. Then you can slide the rear end under the car, hook everything up and go for a ride!
Wait to put the fluids in so they don't cause a problem when the engine/trans is at the angle you will need to get everything under there. Good Luck Chris

Re: Engine install
I like to do the tranny first, then the engine, unless the body is off the frame.

Re: Engine install
This question seems to rank with what oil to use. No agreement. Like Tom I do transmission first then engine. I use heavy wire hooks to support the trans from the motor mounts. Then it's easy to move the car while installing the engine. Using a jack to support the trans will just frustrate you.
