Found this at Amazon, Pentosin CHF 11S Synthetic Hydraulic Fluid - 1 Liter, you might call Stipe and ask if this will work on the Stipe shocks. If not ask them where you have to go to get the correct oil. Here's another product I found at Amazon, Pentosin 8403107 CHF 202 Synthetic Hydraulic Fluid, 1 Liter. They don't list the weight of oil these are but they do show specs for temp range. The 202 is good for -40 to +266 degrees farenheit and the 11S is good for the same.

Here is a product description: Pentosin CHF 11S is a synthetic high performance hydraulic fluid for life-time application in modern vehicle aggregates. Pentosin CHF 11S is especially designed for hydraulics in the automotive industry with the highest technical requirements such as in: power steering, level control, shock absorber, hydro-pneumatic suspension, stability and traction control, hydraulics for convertible tops, central lock systems, etc. It is suitable for all extreme conditions and guarantees full performance from -40 Degree Celsius to over 130 Degree Celsius system temperature

Too bad the shocks don't have a DRAIN plug. Then you could quickly & easily try different OILS/VISCOSITYS -----

This is an update to post #10 above ...

The reference to 30 -40 wt oil came from the info sheet that came with the Stipe shocks that I bought.

Vince Falter's website has information about these shocks:

A Friend had a Datsun-510 Autocross car with struts all around. The EARLY struts, where you loaded the individual shock parts into the struts.
He welded an elbow at the top, for a filler & a drain cock at the bottom & could easily change types of oils, for DIFFERENT shock actions.

Well, got Stipe to send me some. I have to send them an empty bottle! I'll probably never need it, but I got it.
