Where to get a replacement gas cap?
I must have left my gas cap at the station. Dunno how long its been missing, but at least a few months. The car is a '56 Ford Victoria. I checked at Advance Auto and they don't have. Looked at Rock Auto and they have a "universal" which looks like it would work, but thought I'd check here first for any ideas. Thanks.

Re: Where to get a replacement gas cap?
Also find out if it needs to be vented or non-vented. If the gas tank in the car doesn't have a vent tube to outside air, you'll most likely need a vented cap.

Re: Where to get a replacement gas cap?
The correct non-vented cap for your car is part # G22. It has the deeper ears you need.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/15481241543...Bk9SR5bTuf_uYQ It doesn't mention your car in the listing but it's there, on the bottom of the box (which they don't show). |

Re: Where to get a replacement gas cap?
evintho for the win! I think that the "ears" need to be longer, and based on the picture he shows, it looks like a match for me. I've ordered it from ebay and it will be here next week. I'll let you know if it fits. Thanks all for responding and including links.

Re: Where to get a replacement gas cap?
The Stant G22 gas tank cap came today and is a perfect fit. The listing on the eBay ad has it as a Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge, etc, but as evintho pointed out, on the box, the list goes on to include Edsel, Ford 1953-63 (except Station Wagon, Skyliner, and Fairlane), Lincoln 53-60, Mercury 53-58 and 61,62,63 (except Station Wagon), Plymouth 53,54 (except Station Wagon)
Thanks evintho and all the others who took the time to respond. Ford56 |
