Default 29 Tudor color opinions requested.

I am preparing the back of my 29 tudor for painting. I removed the rear spare tire carrier. On the bottom it is attached with two studs. The top is connected with a bolt that passes through a bracket and then the rear of the body (see photo 1). on the outside there is a large flat washer that covers the hole in the body through which the bolt passes. It was painted vagabond green to match the body. I can't imagine it was done this way during manufacturing. It would require painting painting washers different colors to match the bodies and then making sure the right washer got installed on the right car! I am thinking it would have been black. Any thoughts?

While sanding down the rear body. I discovered (paint forensics) a few things. First there is no evidence of any primer under the top coat. So it was shot right over the prior paint which appears to be the original paint (A good thing!). On the repaint the whole body was shot with vagabond (light) green, then just the belt moulding was done in rock moss (dark) green. When sanding the upper back I discovered dark green under the vagabond green. I wet the dark green to get a better idea of its color and it looked like Rock Moss to me (photo 2). So I think the upper back was rock moss like this car (Photo 3). So that is what I'm going to return it to. Any other thoughts?

You might want to study the spare wheel carrier you have as it looks like an A-1380-B which is correct for November '20 through the end of production. That may be why someone installed a flat washer between the carrier and the body as you indicated.

I am guessing you meant November '30 not November '20. Thanks. This is the kind of information that makes me grateful for having the Barn as a resource!

This doesn't surprise me. Lack of attention to detail seems to the pattern I am running into while redoing the former "restoration" of my 29 tudor. I found an A-1380 on E-bay which I will pick up if my "snipe" bid is successful. If not I'll call Bert's. I am not sure from looking at the photos on E-bay, how this would eliminate the large washer. If anyone has a 29 tudor with the correct spare tire carrier on the back, I would greatly appreciate any photos you could post of your installed carrier. Thanks in advanced!
