new ceramic coated exhaust manifold
just installed a new ceramic coated manifold from snyders, put on a new aries muffler , my question is will the new manifold create more engine heat . maybe its me but after a 5 mile ride the engine room seemed hotter than before. i replaced the manifold because old one was warped and had a crack . thanks to all

Re: new ceramic coated exhaust manifold
Several items may be affecting this. The Aries exhaust system typically is a better flowing exhaust, ...which may be leading to a leaner fuel mixture due to less back pressure. Leaner can equate to hotter.
Next, if the timing is incorrectly set, this can lead to warmer temps. With you stating the previous manifold was cracked, maybe the condition was already present? The biggest thing I feel coated manifolds do is aid in scavenging exhaust gasses. Again, better air flow may be causing a leaner fuel mixture. |

Re: new ceramic coated exhaust manifold
35# is a good torque # and then re-torque.

Re: new ceramic coated exhaust manifold
I just bought a new Snyders manifold two weeks ago and the sheet that came with it said torque to 45 pounds, then retorque when hot.
I put a dab of antisieze on the studs, so I torqued only to 40 lbs. The instruction page is also on Snyder's web site where you buy the manifold. By the way, stopped in on a Saturday, (been there twice before over the years) and they treated me like royalty. Great folks. |
