Default air conditioning

Does anyone have suggestions on procuring and installing air conditioning? I have a stock '30 model A coupe (does have 12v neg. ground). Any thoughts on this project will be appreciated. Steve

I have installed or help to install 4 of Ken Davis's units and they were all a huge success.

We have a Ken Davis in both of our cars, and there's at least 50 cars in the DFW area that have his kits in them. I've never heard a complaint...he's the best and he knows what he is doing.

In rainy Oregon we open the front window when warm (if ever) and close it when it rains (most of the time). Just kidding. The units mentioned sound like a good addition.

Awesome! I always wondered if I ever went down that road what was best. It is good to know that it is available from him in a nice kit form, and for a reasonable sum. The power of the Barn!
Reminicsing here I remember past KC Model a club member John Hargraves coupe and his engineering expertise of his A/C install back in the 80's He was one who led one of the original group or two tours to Alaska.

We're just digging out of the 12-13" snow in St. Louis area so it wil lbe a while before we need A/C... but then maybe not!

I push out the windshield and open the two front windows.

Works quite well.

I'd probably do that if I lived in Minnesota too

Jordan,

Worked O.K. in Colorado too. If I lived with high humidity, I would try something else.

You'll be very pleased, I promise. Make sure you insulate very well to keep the hot air out.

Ken is the only one who makes a complete kit that I'm aware of. I know others have tried, but he's the only one who's lasted...so that should tell you something.

Ditto Jordan . If you do not insulate and plug every hole you will not be happy.

Are you talking just the passenger compartment at the firewall or ALL over the inside?

The firewall and floor board gets the hottest. But it's a good idea to go ahead and insulate the rest of the car pretty good. We have about 4 layers of insulation in the front, 2 in the back. And inside all the door panels, and front cowl are insulated. Jordan's sedan can get almost as cold inside as a modern car. Which not a lot of people can say. The a/c's that ken sell work great, but you have to still try to keep the hot air out. There's been times where people in the back seat have asked if he could turn down the air cuz they were cold.
