Default Sequence of installing pump pushrod

Took my manifold off a few weeks ago along the fuel pump stand, the pushrod, the canister looking thing that goes below the pump stand and the intake itself.

What goes on the engine first? the pushrod with the "umbrella" down?

Then the open-ended "canister"?

Then the intake?

Then the fuel pump stand?

Then the fuel pump?

I believe it is:
1. Pushrod, umbrella end down
2. Intake manifold
3. Fuel pump stand gasket
4. Canister
5. Fuel pump stand
6. Fuel pump

I think steps 1 and 2 could be reversed if needed. It's just easier to line up the pushrod with the intake off.

You can sometimes insert the canister into the groove on the fuel pump stand and it stay there so you can install both as one piece.

I mount the fuel pump to the stand and then push it down on the pushrod before starting the nuts on the studs. The lip of the canister sits on top of the gasket the way I've done it and I've never had any issues.

This is the way I do it.

Guess I could have found out the sequence on line if I'd tried but that sure is a neat trick mounting the pump to the stand before installing the stand.

Glad I asked!

I always mount the pump to the stand off the car and then the stand to the manifold. Easier for me than trying to hold the pump in place against the spring pressure while trying to put the nut on in close quarters.
