Opinion on European Classic Tires
Would like your opinion on the European Tires for the Model A. Are they any good? Will they last?

Re: Opinion on European Classic Tires
Not the answer your seeking, but if you are looking for a good tire at a great price, look at the Lucas tires from Vietnam.

Re: Opinion on European Classic Tires
Asking about tyres is a bit like "Which oil do you use?" There will be a multitude of answers, all well meaning but you are likely to end up more confused than ever.
BTW, I found those Lucas tyres to be OK in all regards but were soft and were prone to wandering.

Re: Opinion on European Classic Tires
Agree with Russ/40. We have had a set of Lucas tires on our 31 Tudor since 2014 and are quite happy with them. Certainly good value for the money...No wondering if kept inflated properly...Eight thousand miles of driving! Ernie in Arizona

Re: Opinion on European Classic Tires
McMimmcs,
No one with a more or less stock A would care that the tires will go to 112 mph. Sorry, my attempt at humor. However, they should be plenty good at 45 mph. (More humor?)

Re: Opinion on European Classic Tires
I did buy the Lucas for mine as the Cokers on it when purchased in October were WAY cracked and I was very leery of driving it. I liked the style, price, and shipping for the Lucas. i was considering the Europeans, but I didn't see a lot of positive/negative to review at the time. I was really hoping to find a Blockley Tire distributor in the US as I really liked their pattern, but couldn't easily find a distributor, but maybe next time. So far I've been happy with the Lucas. I do understand you get what you pay for sometimes, but as a new to the Model A, I had to do an immediate remedy for the tire/tubes situation, and sort out other items. In time I can reassess the tire situation, but at the moment I'm much more comfortable than where I started. i'll post pictures next time.

Re: Opinion on European Classic Tires
In the 50's you could buy add-on's that converted blackwall tires to whitewall tires. These were flat white rubber disks with the center cut out that fit between the rims and the tires. You deflated the tires to mount them. Are these still around? I have not seen them in 60 years.

Shew, thanks for the link. Looks like they have them for 19 inch wheels.

They do. The ones I found look like skinny whitewalls though. https://www.amazon.com/Tires-School-...9725691&sr=8-3 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
