Re: LED bulbs
Which photo is the LED.? Photo on left looks like it's not red. Might be the camera.

Re: LED bulbs
The one on the left looks brighter because of the light shining through the clear part of the top of the lens to illuminate the license plate.

Re: LED bulbs
What's a good source for the correct LED bulbs? I've used Classic and Vintage Bulbs (located in Australia) but haven't received any reply to emails about buying more bulbs. I found LogoLite but haven't tried them. Any suggestions for a good supplier?

Re: LED bulbs
Just remember, when you use LEDs for turn signals, they work much better with the proper flasher unit. The flashers are easy to get. Any truck stop or truck supply outlet will carry the correct one. They don't work with 6 volt applications and I found with my 49 F1, I had to bump the idle speed up just a little, to get them to flash properly.

Re: LED bulbs
Try LEDLIGHT.com They have the correct 6 volt positive ground bulbs and flasher.

Re: LED bulbs
What!? They have LEDs that fit dash light sockets!. Do they have 12v positive ground? Unless the sun is over my shoulder, I have to use a flashlight to read the gauges on my '41. Maybe because of low contrast between red needles and gold/amber instrument face. Maybe because I need cataract surgery. |

Re: LED bulbs
Thanks for the additional vendor names. Looks like most of the bulbs are both positive and negative ground and also 6 and 12 volts so they should work in most applications.

Re: LED bulbs
It's good to know who the vendors are, but part numbers would be helpful as well. I find it is better to have information from someone who has used/fitted the specific part, than looking in a catalogue or on line, and ordering something that may not work or fit.

Re: LED bulbs
I just replaced my tail light bulbs in my 36 pickup purchased from ledlight.com'
original # 1129 use 68576 1 1/2" long or 97869 approx. 2" long the 97869 is the brightest but is a tight fit between the socket & lens be sure and check it. Original # 63 use 78747 both of these replacements are 6 volt and are straight pin single contact. They work fine |

Re: LED bulbs
This is where I got mine too (not to be confused with LEDlights.com which is a different company). I also got their LED compatible flasher. My 6v positive ground lights are great, the turn signals work fine and the generator output is set very low, yet still provides a positive charge with the lights on. Its a win-win situation

Re: LED bulbs
How do the flasher units handle a mix of bulbs, i.e., led brake/tail light with standard tungsten front turn signals?
