Intro with '37 Ford Cabriolet
Howdy folks, I have owned hot rods for many years but now I have a car that I think fits the Ford Barn crowd. So here is an intro:
My name is Rolf and I am addicted to old Fords. A few well placed want ads resulted in this thing in my garage: 1937 Ford Cabriolet. It is an older restoration but it has not seen much action since. It is very stock but a 24 stud flathead, ’39 box and juice brakes makes it a driver. Runs and drives great. Immediate plans calls for dual exhaust and wide whitewalls. A spot light on the drivers side post would look good I think. That brings me to some questions: As I have a later model engine ABA engine will headers for a stock 21 stud engine fit in this frame? Are the ports at the same locations? I like to install a spot light in the driver's side post. Do I have to dig in to the garnish trim to do this? Love some pointers and pictures. What a joy to drive this car: Rolling down a two lane black top holding on to that banjo wheel and listening to the song of the flat head. Maybe a Columbia rear end would make it even better.

Rolfe, Glad I ran across this! Car looks great, hope to see it on the poker run!
Oh yeah, I'm sure you figured it out but all flathead V8 exhaust ports are the same size in the same location

Better late than never . Beautiful '37 and welcome to the Barn. It would be difficult to improve on the looks of that one. I would vote for a Columbia, but against the spot light. I could not bring myself to cut a hole in that windshield post for a spot light, yuck!

Re: Intro with '37 Ford Cabriolet
I had a 39 convertible coupe and a 46 convertible that both had a drivers side only spotlight installed years ago. Both holes were welded up but as I remember on both the original installer drilled into the windshield garnish moulding. If the cabriolet was mine and I wish it were hinge mirrors would be good enough along with a Columbia and some whitewalls. Wonder where the radio antennae is on your 37 cabriolet as I see a radio but no above windshield antennae. Are you still even on Fordbarn as your original intro was quite a few months ago that someone has renewed.

Re: Intro with '37 Ford Cabriolet
I love Spotlights, (and fender skirts ) have them on most of our Flatheads, except the '39 LZ (spotlight that is), it had one at one time but someone had removed it and filled the hole on the "A" pillar.
