Default spurious parts

I've seen service bulletins about the dangers of using spurious parts. Illustrated here is one such example. This was a nors axle I fitted to my Columbia diff. From the get go it was too short, requiring the use of a shim in order to seat the hub correctly?!!. Yeah right! Been on for about one year now. Recently have done a hydraulic brake conversion, upon re-fitting the rear drums, could not get the axle nut up to torque. Here's why.....
