Woodiewagon46, you say you used a vac. pump from a boat. where did you find your 6 volt vac. pump, and are they still available?

Alaska, I live on the North Shore of Long Island so marinas are all over the place. The vacuum pump I picked up was from a local marina back in about 1974. I don't know if they are still made in 6 volts or not.

I like the double diaphragm fuel pump option. I know they work because I drove a 48 home from Montana to Olympia that we had just bought only to find out later the manifold vacuum line had been removed and a plug put in the port. It rained most of the way home and the wipers worked nice although with a little stutter. These pumps seem a little harder to find for a ford V 8 but I see them at swaps time to time . Rebuild kits for them are still out there as well. Tim

I've got one of these on the truck. With the wiper motor rebuilt and the linkage properly lubricated, no problem.
