34 coupe dash mounting question
Putting the dash back in, cant remember if there is SUPPOSED to be any kind of rubber strip or fender welting in between the dash and the body?

Re: 34 coupe dash mounting question
Digger-
If you've seen my posts, I am/was in the process of removing my '33 3w dash for woodgrain'g. But now I understand that woodgrainers are extinct. AND no person nor entity does the '33/'34 burled-walnut. Presently, my windshield frame & new Sanders glass is stilll not on/in the windshield cab opening. I do not see a rubber strip or fender welting in between the dash and the body. Although I do not have the dash completely out at this point, so . . . if there is a rubber strip/fender welting, I am unaware of it. But if you're in San Luis within the next couple months, you are welcome to stop by and view the 3w at the area you are concerned about. |

highbeams,
Your post above suggests that you have forgotten or did not bother to read the responses on wood-graining sources on the thread that YOU started on October 2, 2021 wherein three sources were cited by knowledgeable 'barners'. Both '33 and '34 (they're slightly different) wood-graining is available. |

Re: 34 coupe dash mounting question
I have no pictures but when I disassembled my tudor I recall there being welting there along the edge of dash to body. If there wasn't you'd see the top edge of the cowl flange.

Re: 34 coupe dash mounting question
Not an expert, but I believe the dash for my 3W had the remains of some fabric along the top where it meets the body

Re: 34 coupe dash mounting question
There is welting material in front of the dashboard on my '34 Ford. I believe the car is original and has not been disassembled.

Re: 34 coupe dash mounting question
Not to speak of '34s; but I have taken apart two '33s that had a strip of fabric/tape like anti-squeak stuff between the dash and cowl. No bead like fender welt. Both were field cars that would have been unlikely to have been disassembled unless early in their lives.

Re: 34 coupe dash mounting question
Ok thanks everyone, so still have the choice of fender welting, rubber/cloth tape stuff, or nothing…it’s not a car to be ever judged, so I guess will go with personal preference as I gotta move on and just put it in. Don’t have any of that stuff on hand, so will see how it looks without

Re: 34 coupe dash mounting question
I have a 34 3wdw that is original. It has welting between dash and body. The welting is much smaller than the fender welting. It looks just like the pictures showen above. Stan

Re: 34 coupe dash mounting question
2 layers of black friction tape to keep the squeaky down.

Re: 34 coupe dash mounting question
Hockey stick tape is what to ask for as the folks at the store have never heard of friction tape. We are obsolete ya know
