thought I would share me tool. Basic tack puller with one side cut off. You can see where tacks on top of tacks would keep the tack strip from fitting well.

tackled the wood work. Used my pneumatic brad gun. Worked well.

OK looks like the repair is not adequate. When I put the wood back on the top, one of them is definately warped out of alignment. I got the UP wood kit and decided to replace all the wood. After removing a huge number of screws to get the wood surround out, I determined it is close, but not the same size as the UP one. I slightly modified the new roof slats and will reinstall the original wood surround with the new slats. My question is that there was tar paper between the wood surround and the metal. Is this factory? or did a previous owner try to stop a leak that way?

Jim,

As Dale notes for his '34, period Ford general practice was to avoid direct metal to wood contact through the use of petroleum-infused tape or webbing often referred to as "anti-squeak".

just to be clear, I think the UP is good quality and would work fine. I just prefer to keep as much of the original wood as I can. Less drilling for screws bolts etc.

Thanks David, I thought that might be the case as some of it was tacked down.
