Default 35 coupe lakeside headers? Who's running them?

Hey guys,

So I'm working on the look of my 35 and thought it would be cool to run some lakeside style headers coming out of the sides of the engine bay. Have any of you done this if so can you share a photo?

I really don't think you'll find much of anyone here very excited about that kind of set-up. DD

Might look good on a fenderless A, or 32, but I'm with V8 Coopman on this one.

It's not so much traditional, the previous posters are trying to say it just wouldn't look good on a full fendered car. That setup works for a drag car just not so much for a street car. JMHO hope I haven't offended you. By the way your car looks like a solid original..I like it. Last owned a 35 three window 50 yrs. ago still miss it. Bill

I have those lake pipe headers on my '27 T Hot Rod which is fender-less. But, it seems for you, you'd have to destroy a lot of otherwise good fender, etc. You could fabricate a lake pipe dump just behind the front wheel and then continue the plumbing back to the rear. As to your question as to whether most of the people here "traditional", I'd say that would be quite a stretch.....we all have our own unique sense of proportion and style.

Best of luck with this. The exhaust system is usually the last part of the puzzle !!

Dick.

If you want to run cutouts, route them down and out behind the front wheels and then run lake pipes or something along the edge of the running boards. Myself I like the dumps behind the wheels and then tuck the rest of the exhaust back under the car.

Have a look at Rich Muraoka's blue 36 coupe, he has a style of lakes headers in his '36.

It's not that any of us are one way or the other with these old Ford products but the forum has rules made by its boss. Ryan already has the HAMB forum for traditionally modified vehicles. This forum is based around more original equipment based vehicles with some modern improvements allowed.

That's also not a flathead and it a custom made exhaust! Nothing against street rods, but this is a flathead site.
