Clutch pedal issues on a '53 mercury
I am doing a clutch adjustment on my mercury and I get it so I have alittle free play so the throw out bearing doesnt stay spinning, but then my clutch pedal doesn't spring back all the way. If I tighten up the adjustment at the throw out bearing then I have no free play but the clutch pedal springs back better but not quite all the way, maybe have about 1/4" left before its sprung back all the way. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong or if I'm something is wrong with my clutch?

Re: Clutch pedal issues on a '53 mercury
My guess is you have worn linkage and / or a poor return spring.
I'd suggest checking the linkage for wear and then lubricating every pivot point. If the linkage is not worn and still not returning the pedal all the way... replace the spring. Nothing binding anywhere?
