24K Gold 1928 Model A
I ran across this while searching Craigs List. All I know about is some one has more money than sense. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv...466901817.html

That's the ultra-rare "Gold Package" - discontinued after the October, 1929 stock market crash as buyers could no longer afford it.

I don't think it is "ruined". No harm done.

Looks like their goal of making a silk purse out of a sow's ear resulted in nothing more than a waste of a good sow's ear.

Re: 24K Gold 1928 Model A
Now fess up, Gents,
If some of us had unlimited money, what might we FANTASIZE building or hire to be built?? Like a FULL sized Model A, carved from exotic wood, or who knows what!! Laying in bed, halfway between conscious & LaLa land, I concoct some amazing things & stories beyond belief!! Pat's friend had a purse made from an Armadillo, her kids were afraid to "RAID" her stash! In Oklahoma, they call them ROAD ROCKS, they think the alignment shops have "Armadillo Farms" & release them at night to increase business. A local man sawed the front end of a Model A off, right behind the radiator shell & mounted it on his den wall!! REALLY, Claude saw it, and almost bought it for $250.00 after the man died. Wonder if I could find that thing? (HMMM! Buster T's givin' me a funny?? look.) Bill W.

If I had the money I would be on my way right now to pick this jewel up. You all can say what you want but I know you would love to have this sitting in your garage. Can't have to much bling

Re: 24K Gold 1928 Model A
It reminds me of a mid sixties Morris that we did some plating on. The owner wanted to gold plate everything that unbolted. Our gold tank wasn't big enough, so all we did was the copper plating and buffing, and then it was sent to another plating shop who had the opposite problem, big enough gold tank but not a big enough copper tank.
After the plating was done, I saw the Morris at a car show, it didn't stand out at all, and all the owner ended up with was a $200 Morris that he spent $6000 on plating and more on paint etc. But, it was his money, and he can spend it any way he wants. |

A marketing degree and 20 years combined experience in the automobile and auction business and I never realized that when I have a $95k car for sale I need to post it on craigslist! I always thought that Hemmings was over rated.

Re: 24K Gold 1928 Model A
Hmm. to be the true "Ultimate Edition" it would seem to be missing the following:
Curb Feelers Spinner Hubcaps Continental Kit and the requisite 2 Spares mounted on the rear Dual Sidemounts with Peep Mirrors Actually though, I do like the cream color.. Might be a nice color for a roadster body with a brown/tan pinstripe? - Dave |

Re: 24K Gold 1928 Model A
Seen gold plating on brass era cars, saves polishing it.
i like it except for the white dots on the rims, what are those? It looks good in white actually... wish i had chosen that colour for mine but painted it already.. One time i saw this nickel era car with brass plating over the nickel, looked good but needed polishing more often. |
