Exclamation Re: 1958 Ford Custom & Custom 300 Sales Brochure. Print Date 9-57

I come to you with a heavy heart (get 'em TACO BELL) ...

I was running through my funny pages and came across this -

I did not mark the source of the info @ the time I saved it (as usual) but it seems MERCMAN is correct as the page shows BODY CODE(S) 70A and 70D as CUSTOM and the 70B as CUSTOM 300.

And it makes perfect sense to me.

MERCMAN sunk my battleship ...

1958 Ford Custom 300 Tudor Sedans - Subtle differences between Early and Late Production
PS - The Bottom illustration is the Early one, while the one with less trim shown at the top is the later one

Question Re: 1958 Ford Custom & Custom 300 Sales Brochure. Print Date 9-57

Damn this is confusing ... Any chance of PRINT DATES on those brochures?

The first should be IMO 70A (CUSTOM) while the second should be 70B (CUSTOM 300).

KULTULZ - To answer your question, the brochure showing the added trim is dated 9/57 while the illustration showing less side trim is from the brochure dated 12-57

I started collecting old car brochures around 30 plus years ago.
I used to buy them from Jay Ketelle from Amarillo, Texas.
When Ford offered their full size automobiles with two different wheelbases in 1957, I then discovered that I needed a brochure for the Custom series and one for the Fairlane series for the years 1957 and 1958.
Back then, as I had two brochure for these two years, I thought that I had a complete set. How wrong I was.
I have since learned that there are three Ford Customs and three Ford Fairlane Brochures for 1957.
They are basically the same but are revised with different Print Dates.
Then for 1958, there are actually four Ford Custom Brochures, and three Fairlane Brochures.
So, all up for just these two models for these two years, there are actually 13 different brochures.
My original collection of four falls far short of the target of 13.
This count doesn't include the Station Wagons or the Folder showing all the full range of cars available.
As this Thread is about the 1958 Ford Custom series, these are the Print dates:- 9/57, 10/57, 12/57 and 3/58.
So you can see how complicated it gets. I hope that you 1958 Ford Enthusiasts have learnt something about Brochures for these years.
Regards Mercman <><
