Arching shoes
Who has the grinder for arching shoes? Preferably in Raleigh, NC area or if need be I will drive to the shop or ship the drums and shoes. The drums have been turned.

Re: Arching shoes
Do it yourself by sanding as needed

Re: Arching shoes
i've got one of the old brake shoe grinders that was given to me by my 90 year old friend who is the local "A" expert. he doesn't use it , instead he arches the shoes by slightly bending them in his hydraulic press. has anyone done the arching this way? i'm putting new cast drums on my truck this winter and am curious to try the press method or maybe the grinder. i relined the breaks on my king midget and used the grinder and got good results. i'm in n.c. but 200 miles west of you.i think the grinders were outlawed in shops a few years ago due to asbestos dust.

Re: Arching shoes
I have one of the grinders and have used it. But you need to be careful with the bonded shoes as it can take a lot off very quickly. Otherwise check with a big rig truck shop as they should be able to arch shoes.
