Welcome to the Barn. Suggestion. Put your location below your name. Maybe a member living close to you that could help. You will need to remove transmission & oil pan unless it has the removable clutch cover on rear of oil pan. Some pickups do some don’t after all these years. Then remove clutch and flywheel.

Re: replace ring on flywheel 47 ford pickup
pull drive shaft, remove floor board/trans cover, loosen the rear trans/motor mount, jack up motor to remove trans and support engine, trans is very heavy and comes out thru the floor board inside the truck cab, I have done this by pulling the trans as far back as possible and tie it off. as said above you may have to remove oil pan if the oil pan does not have the clutch cover-then remove clutch/pressure plate/flywheel to have it surfaced and to replace starter ring--8hrs later with some help you are back on the road after putting it all back together!!

After flywheel is removed, ring gear needs to be split or otherwise to remove. Then new ring gear is heated for fit to flywheel. https://www.moderndriveline.com/shop...ear-112-tooth/

Re: replace ring on flywheel 47 ford pickup
Lifting the 4 speed up through the floor was the hardest part for me. For a while both my boys were living off-island, but I had a really strong kid working for me in the cabinet shop at the time. He just reached down and set it on the floor like it was easy. I like a good ol' US made throw-out bearing. Great insurance for a little bit more money. I am a fan of the 4 speed with that nice granny gear. Post up as you get started. We may be of some help. Oh, and a picture of that stakebed truck would be great!
