1930 truck with wood cab
I'm new to this site so this is my first thread.
I recently bought a 1930 pickup/snowmobile for a good price. It has a wooden cab and bed. I'm trying to get some history on who built this cab and or truck. Someone put a lot of money and time into this truck. It came from the state of Main, bought it off ebay for $4,000. I found another site were it sold for $14,000 less than two years ago. Vin on the block is 2849597 (Might have been restamped) with no vin on the chassis anywhere I can find. If anyone can help with info on this truck I would greatly appreciate it. I will try to attach both pics and web site where I found the truck was sold before. http://topclassiccarsforsale.com/for...nowmobile.html |

Re: 1930 truck with wood cab
Here is a better pic of the cab after sanding and re clear coating. This is not plywood, it is stacked planking glued, cut and shaped like the original body. This was done by someone who has a lot of experience in woodworking. I have never seen a body built like this one. I would love to no who the craftsman is.

This is a older restoration and conversion to a snowmobile. It runs strong with compression in the upper 60's. the front end is tight, the tranny and driveline is solid. I would love to know what engine work has been done. On the web site there was a man named clarence ( from the same area the truck came from), so I called him. He said this was not one of his builds and did not know why his name was on it. Info must have got mixed in from another truck he sold on that site. |

Re: 1930 truck with wood cab
Welcome to the Barn. Your best bet may be to contact the Main DMV and or a local Main Model A club. Looks like a lot of fun in the snow!

The truck was on ebay twice, missed the reserve by $1 the first time on. The second time they dropped the reserve way down. It ended in the middle of the night so I placed a bid and went to bed. Got up and found I won by $1 over the lower reserve, paid $4,051. Mechanically the truck is in great shape. Just needed Rear drums and new brake shoes tuneup and some odd and ends.. Built a new flat bed. |
