Default Dash light switch

How do you remove the light switch from the dash? I have ordered new pigtail and was looking on removing the switch to install the wires.

On the backside of the switch there are 2 like wings that stick out . These have to be pressed in to remove switch,be careful if even 1 breaks of your done as far as it going back in. ken ct. Good switches go for $75 and up.

what year vehicle? Ken is giving the method for the 35-37 but that dash light switch does not have a pig tail, for 40 headlight sw. remove the knob by pushing a small nail into the hole in the bottom of the body then pull the knob out. then remove the hex nut that was under the knob.

I see your title is in reference to the dash light switch. As Ken mentioned there are pit falls involved, and it is not necessary to remove the switch to replace the wires since they can be pulled out of the switch. First spray the two terminals on the rear with a small amount of light lubricant such as LPS 1

Hi Guys,
Having trouble getting the knob off my 1936 (?) dash switch. I'm not certain it is the correct switch. Does the knob pull off or screw off?
Does it control all the dash instrument lights? Does it rotate to change the brightness?
Thanks,
Bruce/CT

Its pressed on to a barbed shaft, you got to break it up with a vice grips or try heating till soft it might pull off.Its just an on-off switch does nothing else.Controls all 3 instraments. The knobs are availible indiv.Mac's i think. ken ct.

Bruce, Knob does not come off.It is molded or pressed on the stem.Carpenter makes the knob.Only controls the instrument lights.Does not rotate. They can be repaired if you carefully take it apart after removing it from the dash.

Does anyone have good photos of this whole dash switch assembly for a 37 tudor? I'm trying to re-install one into the dash but have everything in pieces. Any good photo of the backside of the dash would be helpful as well. Thanks-mariah
