Portable radio
I took a portable radio along for a drive today. As soon as I started the engine, the Static started. Is this for the lack of resistor type plugs?

Re: Portable radio
It's the lack of carbon plug wires, which I would never use on an old car or motorcycle. The sound of the Model A is enough music for my ears.

Re: Portable radio
Resistor plugs will have no effect on the static on your radio. It is caused by everything electrical in your car. The points make a spark. That causes static. The rotor and distributor cap make sparks. That also caused static. The brass strips going to the plugs cause static. The generator causes static. Time to give up on your portable radio.

Re: Portable radio
I have Ted Weems and Gus Arnheim on cassette tape and play them from a $10 Dollar store player that runs on C batteries. Sounds just like a victrola
