Default Installing firewall insulation pad ‘36 p/u

Does anyone have any tips for getting the molded part of the insulation pad up into the firewall. I can’t seem to get around the gearshift steering column and e brake.

'32 we assemble separately first, '33 on we assemble with all those 'sticks' removed. Newc

Hmmm. I am having a problem visualizing "gear shift steering column and e-brake" in a '36 pickup.

Are we dealing with a modified vehicle here?

I was thinking I would try to remove “those sticks” cause that fiberglass panel doesn’t have much flex. How hard is it to take the shifter handle off?

I'm sure someone will mention it; but when installing and removing the shift lever, keep track of the guide pin so it doesn't fall inside the transmission.

It goes in pretty easy, just slide it from the side up over the steering column, then the whole thing goes up to the cowl. I use an awl to line up the pins that hold it on.

Did you come in from passenger door or driver door. Mine is molded so there is very little flex

From the passenger side. Slide the shifter back into 1st gear and have the parking brake on. Is your panel fiberglass, or abs? I know both are available as replacements.

I believe it’s fiberglass
