Battery size for 63 Galaxie ?
What modern size battery will fit the trey of a 63 Galaxie. Can't find anybody selling the old 29NF group size that was in there originally.
Thanks! |

Seems to be plenty of choices out there. Check out some of these:

Re: Battery size for 63 Galaxie ?
29NF
NAPA had them last time I checked, within the last year or so. Be sitting down before you look at the price, and have a crying towel handy. I have another slightly older car (6v converted to 12v) with a narrow battery tray that a 29NF won't fit in. Look at the various 12v battery options at the farm & tractor supply stores too. The battery now in the car with the narrow tray was original to a 12v tractor of some sort but it fits and works just fine. This particular one is too small for the tray in your '63 but several other sizes were available if you look. Less expensive too. Last edited by dmsfrr; 11-09-2022 at 11:46 PM. |

Re: Battery size for 63 Galaxie ?
I just spent a few days searching for a battery for a common newer driver. Regular places had them listed, but in reality, after calling they didn't have or couldn't order. Part of the problem is I was unwilling to spend $200 that a few places offered. Hung my head and drove 36 miles to a WM and spent $99. I tried local first. Bonus was battery had a mfg date of 9/22. Sorry for long winded rant.

NAPA # 7280 Duracell SLI29NF Interstate 29NF-VHD Car Quest (Advance Auto) 29NF40 The 29NF batteries have a somewhat low CCA, around 390-420.. This usually is ok but if you want one with a better CCA the Group 56 batteries have much higher CCA's The 56 is almost the same size, should fit in the tray ok. It is a little shorter 2 ", a little less in height 1/4 "and a little bigger in width 3/4 ". I have a 56 in my 54 Ford, fits the tray good. I got these specs from measuring both. Another manufacturer's sizes should be close but always measure before buying
