I know Tony, I love it too but, I need room in the garage, and I'd rather finish the '39 LZ & '49 Cosmo, then spend the time to put the '66 back on the road. Beside that... I make any car look good, as long as I'm sittin' in the drivers seat... LOL

Yeah Marv, but my Zephyr will be 90 years old (I'll be 80 ) when he is 18... Don't get me wrong, if I had ample space available, I'd keep the '66. I may end up keeping her any way... We'll see.

I'm looking for suggestions on which voltage drop unit to use for the gauges in the '39 LZ. As always, help is appreciated. Thanks.

I am running Runtz in the pickup. The only down side is they are $15.00 each. one is required per gauge. These were in the pickup when I bought it. A Ford gauge voltage reducer was available though NAPA. I don't remember the PN. They were used from '55 though the '60s, maybe '70s.

Hi Chuck,

I installed a heavy duty voltage reducer in our '47 convertible, because of the heater blower motor, but I don't need that for the Zephyr. I know that Ford used them for a long time but, I would like to find a unit that will work for all the gauges, not one for each.

Vic Ford and Chyrsler both have voltage reducers in the 70's that operate all the gauges and are small. Check with NAPA. I do not know when they quit using them if they did. Marv

Maybe poor memory, but I thought the '55 Mercury that I had in college had a voltage reducer block in it for the gauges.

Chuck, that does look like it would work, thanks. My computer crashed yesterday so I'm working with an old (and I do mean OLD) lap top, which is a pain in the butt. I hope the computer will be fixed tomorrow so I can get back to business and fun without it taking soooooo long to type and post...

A bunch of the guys came over yesterday and we got to work on Don's '50 rag top. We were cooking along nicely until we ran out of "new" parts that don had ordered... Oh well... Now we'll have to wait till next Saturday to hopefully finish getting the Flathead, etc. back between the frame rails and fired up... As usual, the Pizza was excellent, Don's treat.

Here's a Post Script to an earlier post... I've still got my '66 Lincoln Convertible, if anyone is interested in taking her home.

Looks like tomorrow we'll have some mid week madness... aka Flathead Fun LOL. Don will be over to get a jump on Saturday's play time with his '50 rag top and Steve is stopping by to pick up two 94's to test on his '46 Coupe. I'll be chained to my desk in the office... Who knows, maybe we'll do lunch... Pizza sounds good.

Well, today's Flathead fun in the garage could best be described as "one step forward, two steps backwards"... We had initially intended to install the bell housing, throw out bearing, etc., mount the transmission and put the assembly back between the frame rails in Don's '50 rag top... But, between the wrong parts being sent, and misplacing bolts, etc., it was more like a "Chinese Fire Drill" (I hope that is politically correct to use as a euphemism). We did get a lesion in installing and removing the bell housing in short order... All was not lost however, as we did get a little more done on the wiring in the '39 LZ and dined alfresco, eating our favorite, Pizza.

It was good to see everyone and once the correct bearing gets pressed, it should be a walk in the park. Mike, I hope you beat the rain on your return home.

Yesterday we got back to playin' with cars, specifically, Don's '50 Rag Top. We got the bell housing, tranny & overdrive hooked up to the Flathead and dropped everything (as a unit) back between the frame rails. We did run into a bit of a problem with the headers, as the rag tops have an X member and it, as well as a few other things, prevented an easy installation. imagine that... At any rate, we did get a lot accomplished. In fact, we were having so much fun, we forgot to go for Pizza...
The Saturday play palls included; Don, Mike, Art, Cliff and Jake. Here are a few photos of the fun.
