Nice, tasteful, but different! Like how you did the opening in the hood.

Here's a great looking truck. I took this picture at the Horseless Carriage Club Holiday Excursion last week in Pasadena, CA.

Re: The Official '32-'34 Truck Thread
I remember this thread from the summer, but don't know why I didn't put a pic or two of my '32 B pickup back then - anyway, here they are. Ignore the Ill. license plate - that was just stuck on for looks while I waited to get it registered here in England. The truck came from NJ back in mid-2010.

Re: The Official '32-'34 Truck Thread
i am a little late with a reply but;i cut the required louvers,to be removed about one and a half inch above the opening i wanted, 11 louvers in may case,if this cut is straight and in the right place it makes the job a lot easier. I cut the lower section of the hood 1 inch below the bottom of the louvers to be removed ,and moved this section up to create the opening i wanted. I spliced the louvers close to start of the flair on the section i moved up,welding the splice close to the flair made it easier for me to control alignment, warpage and makes the splice less noticeable. After cutting splicing and welding, i fabed a frame from half inch sq. Tubing and welded it on the back side of the hood as a stiffener.i used a mig and am only a fair welder.ps i used a practice hood.good luck ed

Re: The Official '32-'34 Truck Thread
Can any of you fellows tell me how the gas gauge operates in my '32 BB truck? I've cleaned up and re-soldered a tiny crack in the tank unit, and returned it to the tank. however the tiny steel line (running to the gauge) is rusted off and clogged shut. So I will need to replace it. But it would be helpful to understand just HOW it works. I'm now wondering if the gauge will still work. Can you help? Also, is the tallest tube on the sending unit (and coming out thru the bottom) supposed to be an OPEN air vent? Thanks.

Cigar, take a look in here. I know there are doors available, but upwards of $1K for a decent set

Here is a link to a helpful site:http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/32fuelgauge.htm You can also pickup the 32 Service Bulletin at any repro vendor, ie LeBonney Baron, Mac's, Dennis Carpenter, C&G, etc... The service bulletin covers the fuel gauge and related system in detail. To your last question, yes, it needs to be open. Keep V-8ing and 4-banging!

Re: The Official '32-'34 Truck Thread
Out on the road now, ready to swap out for a drop axle. One from Sid's can't be far off in my future. But in the meanwhile, happy motoring:
