Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Marv. all I'd need is a pair of bib overalls and a straw hat... That would be the uniform of the day...

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
I know he was a pig... I also knew some guys in the Army that could have been classified as "pigs" but they didn't escape the draft... LOL

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Yeah, I knew a few pigs while I was in the Army too. I was "messy" rather than a pig but got drafted anyway. Experience of a lifetime....

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
This past Saturday, in anticipation of the arrival of furniture movers, I drove the ’39 CS out of the garage, to give them a clear path to get my office furniture out of the garage and into the house… Well, the movers never showed up but, that’s not why I’m posting this. That evening I put the ’39 CS back in the garage and Sunday morning I went out to fire her up for a ride and… NO SPARK!!! I haven’t had a chance to trouble shoot to see if I can identify the problem yet, something else to play with, I guess…

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Hi Steve, I never would have guessed that getting a "mover" would be so difficult... As for the '39CS, I didn't have her out in the rain... I have not had a chance yet to try her this morning... We'll see.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Hang in there Guy. My wife and I recently moved from one Town to another just 5 miles away last Octber . Besides the mover it took us 16 pickup truck loads for all the misc and 40 years of parts and my three vehicles. In addition we got a noreaster and Sandy back to back 2 weeks later. I hope to never have to do that in the near future. That being said we are very happy in our new home which among things has a great 5 car garage and work area,.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Tom, I hear what you're saying, it can be a real pain... We only need to move the furniture from the garage to the "new" house, only about a sixty foot walk! My wife and I have moved just about everything (but the real heavy stuff) ourselves. In two weeks the double garage door will be here so we can convert what we’ve been using as our bedroom, into another two car garage space in the separate garage building.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Flatmotor40, I haven't pulled the distributor caps to see if any moisture is on the inside but that'll be the next thing I check. As for your '40, have you looked to see if the radiator is throwing water, from anywhere (hose connections, etc.), that could get to the distributor?

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
As a suggestion, perhaps you should send your crab distributors to Bubbas and get the Pertronix conversion - you can soak the distributor and it will still start. Check w/Bubba - he'll be able to guide you better ....

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Not at all relevant to anything you are talking about, not that I can see you having a problem with this, but I can see it now.......the mad rush to be the person making post number 1000 in this thread. Is there a prize for the distinguished accomplishment?

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Gee Russ, I don't know... Guess we'll have to wait and see...
Keeping it Ford Flathead related, this weekend I'll be putting the '51 F-1 into service, as I have to deliver some Patio Furniture to my Sister & Brother-in-Law down in Long Boat Key... Just a short 200 mile round trip.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
That's an easy day... For the Barner's Bash I put about 600 miles on the F-1 and in October I'll most likely drive it up to Dawsonville, Ga., for the Moonshine Festival, that's just over 550 miles each way. Last year I drove the '39 CS to the Moonshine Festival. I love using Flatheads the way Henry intended...

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
600 miles and you live there. No wonder New England folks say never buy a car from Florida. "Them engines are all burnt out." I just about doubled that with the Courier.
With the way the house is coming it sounds like a champagne brunch is in the near future. |

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Vic I have an electric fan so it really doesn't come on very much.Sent the crab to Bubba's to get the advance fix since one of the advance springs rusted off.But even with a gasket on cap it still has a little moisture in it from time to time.Just started this this year but i the past couple years didn't do it.It is a Mallory electronic dist so it would not help getting a Pertronix. It cranks if no moisture first touch
