2nd post on this, one remarkable thing about Ol’ Ron, he freely shared his knowledge without any condescending airs. Thanks for the pictures.

I got my hands on my copy of Nostalgia quit a while back. After I ventured into the Fordbarn I was pleasantly surprised to find threads and posts by Ol Ron. I enjoyed posting along in those and hearing from an old kid that isn't afraid to try anything to get more power out of the old flatties or use parts that save a hard earned buck. If he ain't gone yet then I'm still pulling for him. I'll miss him when he's taking that hot rod to heaven.

i just home from visiting Ron and Ryan is right on He is very close to the finish line.He is in and out but I told him I Have his engine in my 37 that it has 50,000 miles on it and still runs great and he said Guess I did something right. Still has a good sense of humor. His son and daughter in law are taking very good care of him and will let me know as things change. Just wanted everyone to know he not in pain and is doing as well as can be expected . will update when when i know more. 37Don

Though I’m not finished my C8BA rebuild yet I’m following Ol’ Ron’s advice. When I asked for input as to which cam to use he gave me the pros and cons for various grinds but he gave me a well reasoned reason to use the one he truly thought would be my best choice.
I hope he’s in a comfortable space and he still flashes that great smile! But we as a group are losing the knowledge and wisdom of so many such Bruce Lancaster for example. I’m going to try to get the book but perhaps Ol’ Ron’s comments could somehow be collated on various topics for the benefit of all... |

I check in to the Barn from time to time and seen this thread. A lot of people on the Barn has offered me advice and direction on my engine build. There was a lot of phone calls to Ron who freely gave me direction when I started on the engine and could not have done it without him. I purchased his book and others in the beginning that made my build fun even though I'm not finished. My prayers are with Ron and his caretakers.

Went to meet Ron and get my copy of Nostalgia signed a few years ago…
…had a great tour of his shop and current projects…….my wife was waiting in the car and he walked over and knocked on her window and said…..”Thanks for letting your husband play with these old motors. There aren’t many guys left that want to”…….he is one of a kind for sure!!………..Mark

Sorry to hear about Ron. When I joined the old Ford barn around 2010, Ron was the first person I corresponded with about the flathead I was building. He never hesitated to give me any information. Always said " the flathead is the thinking mans engine".
Keep um runnin Ron! Bob |
