Re: Andalusite vs Washington blue?
My Coupe is Andalusite, and yes it is very dark. Most people that come into my garage think it's black. Only when it's out in the sun, can you see the blue.

Re: Andalusite vs Washington blue?
My advice: To finalize your color choice, go to a big meet, like a national meet, and seek out cars in the colors you are considering. Do not go by photos. Take pictures of the colors you like, to reference in the future, but don't decide on other people's photos alone.

Re: Andalusite vs Washington blue?
Our Roadster has at least four different hues of Washington Blue. Any one of 'em is perfect ... and on a spring evening about 7 PM, up against 150 collector cars and hot rods, she will still take a trophy!
Here she is in the rain at the St. Patrick's Day parade. The sidemount whitewalls STILL have green stains!!! |

Re: Andalusite vs Washington blue?
Not that it matters that much, but was Washington blue a "legal" color on a 1930 town Sedan? Along with the Tacoma cream wheels, it is the color I want.

Piper or Taylor? That is a 1946 Piper Model J3 which we[club] purchased brand spanking new..Piper gave us an award for having the only J3 left still in single ownership.. Pic was taken during one of our annual pig roasts and usually conduct a 'flour drop' for some entertainment.. The white spots on their heads is from a direct hit..

Re: Andalusite vs Washington blue?
One more attempt to post these photos. If it fails, take my word for it - I have a beautiful Washington Blue '31 roadster (a smaller view of it is in my avatar to the left here.).
The Andalusite Blue is a fantastic color too. The Model A has NO "bad" colors! Earle P.S. I would like to learn how to post "large size" photos like the ones above. It's probably a very obvious and simple procedure. |

Re: Andalusite vs Washington blue?
Thanks, Kevin, for your info on how to post "big photos". I'll give it a try sometime soon.

Re: Andalusite vs Washington blue?
Horsewhisperer - We're trins! Nice roadster!
The only words I see on my trunk locks are "MI AUTO LOCK". Nothing about "EAGLE". And the keys have been lost forever - I never had them when I acquired the trunk about 25 years ago. I would love to find a good locksmith who could fabricate new keys. The trunk is all steel - Looks exactly like yours except mine doesn't have lifting handles on the ends. 'Wish it did. It's an original dating from the '30's but I don't know if it was ever an official Ford accessory. It fits the trunk rack perfectly but is a bugger to get on and off the rack without handles! All the best with your beautiful car. Take care, Earle |

Re: Andalusite vs Washington blue?
Earle,
Your "MI Auto Lock" was produced by the Milwaukee Stamping Company. After searching for locksmiths in Ontario and the US, I found a locksmith in Milwaukee that had original "Eagle" keys for my metal trunk. I couldn't believe my luck. But now I'm wondering who manufactured the luggage trunks sold through Model A Ford dealers. Not a topic for this thread, though. |

It still had the 36 HP engine. Not enough to get you out of trouble. The guy who owned was one of those guys who like basic minimum vehicles with basic minimum powerplants. He told me a hairaising tale about not being able to get out of ground effect with it. It was an interesting plane nevertheless. Terry |
