Default V8Coopman

Fellow Barners, it is with great sadness that I report that Dick Davidson has passed into God’s arms. You knew him as V8Coopman.

My first encounter with Dick was about 10 years ago when I was looking for advice regarding putting better brakes on my ’36 coupe. Somehow we just hit it off and as many of you know, we tackled and, at least sometimes conquered, many projects. I never met Dick face to face but he was always there when I needed advice. As a perfectionist, usually he would be chastising me about some detail or another. I would just kid him and tell him I couldn’t even hear him laughing at my stupidity ‘cause I was clear down in Florida.

I was always amazed at his knowledge about hot rods, physics, aircraft, and numbers. Good grief, the numbers. He could recite hundreds of part numbers and even chassis numbers from his vehicles and his friends cars. He once told me he had non-stop numbers flowing in his head.

The last couple of years were pretty rough on Dick. He lost his long time bride, Connie in Feb of ’23. Things just seemed to go downhill from there and he passed quietly early this morning.

Dickie was a great mentor to me and I will miss him greatly. Rest in peace my friend.
