I had a six figure car for sale and someone with a middle east sounding name contacted me. I sent a snarky reply that included several insults. Turned out to be a legit buyer that showed up with 20% cash and a wire transfer to my brokerage account. I was damn lucky that I didn't blow the deal!

I just noticed that Ron Gage (Rowdy ID) has BANNED under his name. Does anyone know what happened? He is/was a long time poster here with many helpful contributions to the board. I have dealt with him a number of times and never had any problems.

Colonel,

Barners Selling Parts Beware

If someone is legitimately purchasing a car from a distance, and if cashier's checks and USPS money orders have been known to be forged, how does one complete the transaction? One could use a wire transfer, but that would entail divulging your bank account info to the supposed buyer.

the way to handle this, is to go to your bank, open up a new acct and put a dollar in it. you then use this acct for just such occasions. I have done it several times, and this protects your daily acct.
My bank has no fee for this, so it keeps thing legit, especially when money is wired from overseas. I have sold a few cars this way and always no problem.

Another option is letting the buyer use Paypal and having them pay the additional fees. This way, they are protected as well.

to be clear with the numbers Dean-

W. Bush 101%
Obama 56%

Bush gave us 5 trillion of debt and Obamma doubled
that by spending 10 trillion.

statistics can always be "presented"................
