Re: First Post! What can you tell me about 1931 Fords?!?
Was the roll down rear window standard on the Deluxe Coupe, or was it special order?

I think someone ask before but, what area are you from? Some one close by might be able to steer you in the right direction.

I am also with Buster T. I have two 29's.
But it kind of depends on what you want to do with your rigs. If you want to do a lot of long distance touring, then the 30-31's may be better for that activity. Although I have done a lot of touring with my 29's around the local area and they are fine for that. Welcome and have fun with it.

The first known mention, unless I missed it otherwise, was in the July 27, 1931 Ford Indianapolis Service Letter. It said that the adjustable window was "now Standard Equipment at no extra cost for installation in the Deluxe Coupe". But was available for the Standard Coupe "as optional equipment at extra cost for those desiring it". So if I am reading this right...ALL late 1931 Deluxe Coupes were equiped with the adjustable rear window when they rolled off the assembly line. If you had a Deluxe Coupe BEFORE they became "standard equipment", then you could have the window installed at no charge. BUT if you had the Standard Coupe, FORD would charge you for the installation. Hope this is right...Anyone? Pluck |
