The leaking water pump is an easy fix. Purchase 2 split water pump packing rings, run the packing nut back off of the water pump, install just 1 of the new rings and snug it down until the dripping stops. If 1 ring won't do it, back off the nut and install the 2nd ring. Tighten the packing nut while the engine is running only enough to stop the dripping.

As the new rings seat in, you will need to adjust (tighten) again. After that, not too often. When it drips, snug up the nut until the dripping stops with the engine running.

Wrench that makes tightening the packing nut easier:

Tightening the packing nut can be done with a screwdriver, but I prefer the wrench.

Something I thought was strange yesterday that the battery drained with the battery cutoff. i didn't think that was possible. the connections look clean.

The battery cutoff switch may be defective.

I ran into that 2 weeks ago on a car. We turned the battery off, and then had sparks when removing the wires from the generator cutout. As a test, we started the car with the battery cutoff switch "turned off". Bad switch.

Okay removed battery switch still nothing. I have 6 volts to starter, ignition switch and ammeter. I have the genesis g3500 hooked up for a trickle charger. When i hit the starter button nothing happens the meter shows no draw but the trickle charger senses a drop and starts charging and is green lit in a few minutes. Could the starter switch have gone bad?

Starter bendix is stuck, you need to turn the engine backwards, some place the transmission into third gear and push backwards. I’ve not been able to do this at my age, I’ve loosen the starter and smacked the starter with a big dead blow hammer. Any grease or oil on the bendix spiral can make it stick, or a bent starter shaft can lock the starter
