I have the pre focused Logo Lites and they appear to be in the correct spot and working correctly so far. Haven’t had it out at night, only a few times at dusk with the headlights on.

what does the alternator have to do with the price of batteries?
I am in the halogen bulb group, great light projection, good focus with no glare that blinds. I don’t worry about the generator at 14 amps can’t count a bearing failure after 50 years against the high output, have long battery life 10 years so far on this one,16 out of last one. 30 years on the halogen bulbs. If i go on a long drive I turn on the headlights |

Kurt, The original generator for a Model A did not have a voltage regulator. It requires an educated owner to set it up properly so that the battery is not over or under charged. Even if set up properly the generator can over charge the battery if the ground goes soft. Either condition can ruin or shorten the life of a battery. On the other hand, an alternator will keep the battery at the proper voltage and will stop sending current to it when it is charged. Granted that alternators can fail too.
A battery maintainer with the desulfator function will extend the life of any lead-acid battery. Hook that up when parked for more that a day or so. Any lead-acid battery will self discharge when sitting and a partially discharged lead-acid battery will grow sulfate crystals that reduce the amount of charge that the battery will except. The desulfator function changes the sulfate crystals back to an amorphous form that the battery can use.

Are you saying that my batteries will last longer than 16 years,I have never used a maintainer,my modern cars get batteries off the junk pile they usually last me 4-7 years some as much as 10
At Hershey the guy selling battery maintainers was telling me that it would double my battery life so I asked if his maintainer would give me 20-30 year battery life and he said NO,I then asked him what it would do and he said it would double the life from 2-3 years to4-6for regular batteries—- I got 4 years out of a 10 year old 12volt battery that I converted to 6 volt with a sawsall. The people I know using maintainers have a lot shorter battery life than I have been getting. |
