'Course, he could just drive on the wrong side of the road and put the mail into the mailboxes from the driver's side. Back in those days, country roads probably weren't traversed heavily enough to cause problems. You could see way off in a distance if a car was coming at you on the wrong side of the road. Besides, people in that farming community would have most likely been used to seeing Elmer delivering mail on the wrong side of the road.
I wonder how it all ended for Elmer and that workhorse Tudor??? Both look like they had a LOT of miles on them!

I can't find any thing on Elmer, Sr, but it looks like Elmer, Jr died a couple of years ago. Born in 1940, I suspect he took many a ride in that Tudor....

It looks to be quite an early car. I see no bolt through the LH end of the bumper.

The RH bumper bolt is a little easier to see...

I don't think those are cracks in the windshield. They look like wires from the other side.

The parallel hood louvers vis-a-vis the line between the lower and upper hood panels eliminates this as an early car, as do the closed-end bumpers missing the bolt that ties the two ends together. Early Model A hood louvers sloped downwards at the rear, following the angle of the side splash shields. They looked kind of odd, as if the panel had shifted inside the stamping die and the louvers ended up at an angle. Mid-1928 Model A hood louvers were changed to run parallel to the break between the upper and lower hood panels, which looked a lot better. The teacup taillight makes this a mid-to-late 1929 Tudor.
