Nothing lost here,,, you tried every avenue of approach and was smitten by late 70's early 80's poor quality Model A parts...

The good news is, the new ones sound like they are a lot better made

You're right, Jeff! Putting the two light switch assemblies side by side is like night and day in terms of quality. The new one is SOOOOO much better! Gawd, did Model A repo parts in the 1970's and 1980's suck scissors! Newbies coming into the hobby since then don't know how good they have it, although I am seeing an alarming drop-off in availability of some parts.

Yes on that----
A friend is in the middle of a 1930 Coupe restoration and he has been telling me that he has been on the phone with most of the major Model A parts suppliers,and they have been telling him a lot of the sources for good Model A parts are drying up. Fast. Nobody is stepping up and filling the parts demand for many parts today. They are just letting their stocks run out.
